On September 4, Coppell Women's Club (CWC) held a Sleepers In September Baby Shower in support of Newborns in Need, Dallas Area Chapter. The event was a huge success! Donations received included 114 sleepers and gowns for the Christmas bags in addition to onesies, socks, hats & bibs that were given in our regular monthly donation to Parkland Hospital.
We would love to host more area baby showers/sock drives to recruit volunteers and gather additional donations. If you are interested in putting one together for your church, your business or your civic organization, write to us at dallastx@newbornsinneed.org for additional information!
NIN Volunteers Wanda Singer, Betsy Winkle, and Kay Stephenson, all members of the CWC as well, hosted the event on behalf of NIN. The table included handiwork items made by NIN volunteers and a cake and balloons to create a festive baby shower atmosphere.
In addition to donating, interested CWC members were able to learn more about our organization.
As result of the event, we have a wonderful new volunteer, Paula Feldman, and the Arts & Craft Special Interest Group of the CWC is planning an event to make loom knit hats for NIN in October. The CWC included us in their press release and a write up and the picture below was published in the Coppell Citizen's Advocate newpaper in September.
