Love Thy Baby has had an absolutely stellar year so far! We have had wonderful fabric and financial donations and have raised more money on our own than in any prior year. That, along with the additional funds provided by our Love Thy Neighbor fundraising, has allowed us to purchase more fabric and batting. Of course, the real key to our growth is our incredible volunteers who are giving more time and energy than ever to creating beautiful hand made items for babies born in need!
In the third quarter, we delivered a total of 8,625 items to area hospitals and agencies, which is a total of 25,976 items year to date, a 23% year to year increase.
The growth in our handmade items, the real work of our volunteers, is still averaging 31% year to year growth, while we have declined slightly year to year on the donation of purchased items, such as onesies, socks and diapers.
The majority of our items are still delivered to babies in need through Parkland where we continue to grow our donations, but given our tremendous production, we have also been able to increase our donations through other agencies this year.
All indications are that we will finish strong for the year and set a new annual record. December is historically our largest month given our focus on providing warm clothing for the winter and our special bags that are handed out at Parkland at Christmas time and this year we will be able to deliver these bags to JPS as well!
So, wonderful volunteers, please keep up the great work! Our agencies are so grateful for your dedication and creativity and you are truly making a difference for so many newborn babies and their mothers!
